It makes me think a bit of Sophie Strand’s preference for “working by addition rather than by subtraction.” I wonder how long it might take for this shift to create change, even on a personal level. I can think of how I might adopt this perspective when I speak to some family members of different ideological persuasions, but I wonder have they have been so accustomed to being labeled for so long that it will take a while before they can hear that I’m *not* labeling them.
