I think the difference is somewhere in the idea of advocating for truth, speaking truth to power, all of that, vs. just being a loudmouth jerk with no connection between heart and blowhole. Holding a mirror up to the world isn't being an asshole, in my opinion, so long as we do it with some compassion ... which is often hard for me, the compassion part. My own efforts have certainly cost me some friendships (and family), but as Charles Bowden said, "It's easy to make a living telling the people in control they're right."
Love the connection of your two examples of dipsh*t males. Self reflection and empathy seem to be lost arts on much too high a percentage of humans these days, which can’t end well. Keep writing.
